Jesus Feast (21 Day Fast)

Jesus Feast

1 Chronicles 22:19 Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the Lord." (resting place for GOD)

What is a Jesus feast?  It is a time set apart unto God to take in all of Jesus that you can.   It is a time of taking actions that will cause our souls to line up with our spirits.  The word says that I am seated in heavenly places with Christ but my soul (mind, will, and emotions) needs to be regenerated.  Paul said, “I die daily.”  He was referring to his soul.

So a Jesus feast is a time of feeding our spirit with the things of the spirit and removing distractions that appeal to our souls.

It is a fast and a feast (it’s not either-or, it’s both-and).

Eph. 3: 14 – 21

14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height-- 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

The Jesus Feast is about fullness.  The apostle Paul was praying for the Ephesians to be filled with all the fullness of God.   Being full of God requires us to empty out some other things.  I heard Paul Keith Davis say that God spoke this to him- “I have moved through many, but rested in few.”   Isaiah 66: 1, 2 1Thus says the Lord: "Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? 2 For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist," Says the Lord. "But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.

We want to be a humble people who create the place of His rest.

Below are the five areas of the feast, it is between you and Jesus exactly how you implement them.

Five areas of Fasting and Feasting:

  1. Sustenance: the area of food and drink.  Matt 4:4 "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'

FAST: Ask the Lord how to fast in the area of food and drink.  It can be a particular food, water only fast, or a Daniel fast, just to name a few.

FEAST: Fill yourself with the word of God – focus on the words and actions of Jesus.
  2. The Eye Gate: the area of what we see. Matt 6:22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

FAST: Television, movies, reading material, news, internet, anything that enters through the eye gate that is not focused on Jesus.  Be led by the Spirit and make room for Jesus.

FEAST: On the written word, prophetic words, books that lift Jesus up, TV that is edifying.
  3. The Ear Gate: the area of what we hear. Luke 10: 39-42

39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me." 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."

    FAST: Radio, TV, News, conversation that include things that are not pleasing to the Lord.  2 Cor 2:20  For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;

In some situations you may need to fast your own words.

FEAST: Again on the word of God, listen in prayer, soak, worship music, teaching CDS, have conversations that uplift and edify.
  4. Thought Life: the area of self-talk and meditations. Phil 4:8 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

Fast: Negative thoughts, doubt, unbelief – when these things come bring them into captivity to the Holy Spirit.

FEAST: Memorize, meditate – mull over the scriptures you are reading – the things the Lord is speaking to you in this time. Ask for God inspired dreams and visions.  Fill your heart with HIM!
  5. Time: It is important how you manage your time in this hour. Success in the previous 4 areas depends on what you do with your time.  Use this 21 days wisely.  This is an appointed time for us as individuals and as a body.

This is a time for sowing to the spirit.

Gal 6: 8,9  8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

This feast/fast is between you and God please receive it in grace.  You and your God decide what this will be and how it will look for you.  Personally, the Lord admonished me not to be easy on myself as I might be inclined to do.  Because it is true that “he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly.”

In addition, it is important to increase praying in the spirit.  When we pray in tongues the spirit prays through us and prays perfectly.  He knows what we have need of and knows how to edify our spirits perfectly.  Pray without ceasing!
